Former Xbox Studio Compulsion Games Says It’s Open to Collaborations

Montreal-based developer Compulsion Games, who averted closure amidst the mass layoffs by Xbox Recreation Studios this month by negotiating its independence, has taken to LinkedIn to let different builders and publishers know that they’re open for enterprise – and seemingly open to working as a assist studio and/or co-developer on one other staff’s challenge.

“With Compulsion Games returning to its roots as an unbiased developer, we’re increasing alternatives to collaborate with studios throughout the video games and leisure business,” the studio’s LinkedIn submit reads. “We invite companions to leverage the expertise and creativity of the award-winning staff behind South of Midnight…We’re excited to assist the event of memorable experiences that have interaction and entertain gamers around the globe.” The total assertion is under:

Compulsion launched 2025’s South of Midnight to essential acclaim, receiving an 8 out of 10 (Nice) from IGN and a “Typically Favorable” ranking on the review-aggregate web site Metacritic. Xbox acquired the studio in 2018 after it had developed We Comfortable Few and Distinction prior to that.

Xbox’s parting of how with Compulsion (and Double Tremendous, Undead Labs, Ninja Concept, and Arkane) comes because the first-party writer appears to focus its efforts on its largest franchises – a method I’ve acquired an thought for relating to the way it would possibly play out.

Ryan McCaffrey is IGN’s government editor of previews and host of each IGN’s weekly Xbox present, Podcast Unlocked, in addition to our semi-retired interview present, IGN Unfiltered. He is a North Jersey man, so it is “Taylor ham,” not “pork roll.” Debate it with him on Twitter at @DMC_Ryan.
