Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 gamers are up in arms over a coveted defend that’s locked behind a Twitch paywall.
Space Marine 2’s 15.0 replace launched at this time and with it got here a brand new set of Twitch drops. Nothing notably particular there, besides the very fact it’s worthwhile to purchase one new recurring or reward subscription ($6) to say the Victrix Guard Shield.
Followers have known as on developer Saber so as to add this defend to Space Marine 2 ever because the recreation launched two years in the past. It seems briefly within the marketing campaign, with an Ultramarine holding it extra within the background of the Battle Barge than anything. It’s not been obtainable for gamers to wield earlier than.
As you’d anticipate, the prospect of handing $6 to Twitch only for one defend has prompted fairly the stink throughout the Space Marine 2 group. “I am not gonna pay for a sub I am not gonna use,” one individual complained. “I simply paid 39€ for the yr 3 cross, which needs to be greater than sufficient.” Added one other: “I do not learn about you all however my ass is not paying 6 bucks for a defend.”
“Unimaginable ranges of greed,” one other individual stated. “I don’t even use Twitch besides to get these rewards and also you’re telling me that after throwing 40 {dollars} on a season cross I would like to provide much more cash to some random goober on Twitch to get the defend????” one other complained. “lmao this defend has been on the marketing campaign since day 1 and the one manner you will get it 2 years later is by way of twitch stream,” one other added. “Hilarious actually.”
Reps for the sport have confirmed that the defend shall be made obtainable by way of the Accolades store in a future replace, however there’s no phrase when that shall be. So, for now, we actually do have a Space Marine 2 defend locked behind a $6 Twitch paywall.
The Space Marine 2 Discord and subreddit are filled with comparable complaints over this. Space Marine 2 typically talking has an excellent status for its reside service monetization, with solely the occasional misstep (voice packs!) from writer Focus and developer Saber. So this case with the defend is one thing of an outlier.
“Generally they astonish me with the choice they take,” one fan commented. “They’re going to be cooking after which do absolute doodoo feces like this. What the f**okay?”
