Following a latest wave of Borderlands 4 previews, Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford has confirmed that one fan-requested function can be within the recreation when it launches in September. Whereas a mini-map will not be within the looter-shooter, a radar will, making situational consciousness of a battlefield a lot simpler.
In a lengthy thread, Pitchford spoke about how followers had been asking Gearbox so as to add this function to the game–many folks from the European, US, and Asian preview excursions have been advocating for it, Pitchford said–and the studio managed to make this occur.
“As me and head of dev, Steve Jones–and a number of the different guys–were poking round with producers making an attempt to determine what it might take so as to add these options and if we may make it in time to ship or not, one thing superior occurred,” Pitchford defined. “In basic Gearbox type, the place we have now an ethos of ‘they who builds it, wins,’ some builders acquired collectively and located a while within the margins of their schedules. Some Gearbox heroes did what Gearbox heroes do!”
A number of Gearbox staff “splintered off” to work on the radar, and Pitchford says they managed to squeeze it into the sport earlier than it undergoes some QA testing forward of its launch. The radar can be off by default when the sport launches, and it will not be within the present construct of Borderlands 4 on the Borderlands Fan Fest showfloor this weekend. Here is what it seems like in motion:

Borderlands 4 can even have a couple of different fan-requested options when it launches, and the bottom model of the sport has an MSRP of $70. “This looks like a Borderlands recreation via and thru the place sufficient has modified for me to really feel like that is an enchancment over Borderlands 3, however it’s not so totally different that I can anticipate large and sweeping adjustments,” Jordan Ramée stated in GameSpot’s Borderlands 4 preview.
Borderlands 4 launches on September 12 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Sequence X|S, with a Change 2 model arriving at a later date.
