God of War Composer Says He Would ‘Be Open to’ Revisiting the Franchise

The God of War TV Collection remains to be a methods off, however one of the key gamers of each the God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök video video games says he’d be open to persevering with his work on that and different God of War tasks.

Talking solely with IGN throughout an interview about his work on the Disney+ sequence Percy Jackson and the Olympians, composer Bear McCreary mentioned he isn’t fully achieved with the God of War franchise. I requested McCreary if he’d be all for increasing his work into different media or if his time on God of War was achieved.

“I nonetheless really feel that I’m very proud of the work that I’ve achieved (with God of War),” McCreary replied. “And if there have been a chance to increase upon it, I’d be open to that.”

McCreary beforehand mentioned that he felt his work on God of War was “full,” however now appears open to revisiting the well-liked online game sequence in tv type. The present is being developed by Sony Photos Tv and PlayStation Productions to stream on Prime Video. The sequence, which is being helmed by Battlestar Galactica showrunner Ronald D. Moore, will comply with Kratos and Atreus as they journey to the highest peak in the 9 realms of Norse mythology to unfold the ashes of their late spouse and mom.

For his half, McCreary mentioned that his expertise engaged on God of War was distinctive to the many different franchises he’s scored, which embody Lord of the Rings, Halo, Star Wars, Marvel, Terminator, and the aforementioned Percy Jackson.

“The wonderful thing about engaged on these God of War video games (is) they’re so expansive,” McCreary defined. “I do not assume I’ve written something musically in the two video games and DLC that hasn’t been found. If something, I feel the extra you dig into it, what I hope is clear is how a lot the group and I (had been) all the time working to simply make it higher.

“At the finish of each one of these large video games, after I’ve performed by it and all I wish to do is sleep, I am like, ‘This is what we should always do subsequent time.’”

McCreary added that engaged on video video games is inherently completely different from producing music for TV or films given the interactive nature of the storytelling. “We (had been) all the time pushing the boundaries on God of War,” he mentioned. “For instance, in God War Ragnarök we determined to implement a ‘do no hurt to melody’ rule. What meaning is that if (a participant is) actually doing effectively in a skirmish or an encounter, you begin getting these character themes and it modifications relying on who your companion is in the sport.

“However to illustrate it is Kratos’s theme. For those who win, usually there’d simply be a giant splash and it could cease. However in Ragnarök, there’s the large splash, all the pieces else stops, however that melody completes itself. It sounds easy, nevertheless it took 1000’s of man hours from a half dozen individuals to have the ability to try this.”

Past God of War, McCreary’s love of gaming runs deep. A lot in order that he’s itching to put in writing music for a rhythm sport.

“I’d like to do one thing like that,” McCreary mentioned. “I am all the time in search of fascinating tasks, fascinating individuals to collaborate with. One of my favourite video games from the final technology is Stray. I feel I’ve performed it by seven or eight occasions. And I am very all for (indie) and AA gaming. I feel there’s loads of experimentation that occurs there. And I like the medium. I am placing it on the market.”

Keep tuned later this week for extra from our interview with Bear McCreary.
