After Announcing a Helldivers Film, Sony Is Now Officially Rebooting Starship Troopers

Sony is engaged on a new Starship Troopers film reboot, in response to varied Hollywood sources.

The Hollywood Reporter mentioned District 9, Elysium, and Chappie director Neill Blomkamp has signed on to jot down and direct a new adaptation of Starship Troopers, the 1959 navy sci-fi novel by Robert A. Heinlein. Deadline and Variety backed up the report.

This new Starship Troopers film will not be a continuation of or associated to Paul Verhoeven’s cult traditional 1997 sci-fi satire Starship Troopers. Reasonably it’s a new adaptation of Heinlein’s novel, and comes from Sony’s Columbia Footage.

Information of Blomkamp’s involvement with this new Starship Troopers film feels puzzling given Sony itself lately introduced a live-action film of blockbuster PlayStation Studios shooter Helldivers. Arrowhead’s Helldivers is closely impressed by Verhoeven’s Starship Troopers, and sees cannon fodder troopers tasked with defending a satirized fascist Tremendous Earth regime from alien bugs, amongst different enemy factions, whereas preaching Liberty and Managed Democracy to the plenty.

Sony now faces the prospect of getting new Starship Troopers and Helldivers motion pictures going up towards one another, though The Hollywood Reporter mentioned Blomkamp’s take will not be a remake of the Verhoeven film, quite a return to the supply materials. Heinlein’s ebook that Verhoeven’s Starship Troopers relies on differs strongly in tone from the movie, with many believing it promotes the beliefs the movie satirizes.

Neither this new Starship Troopers nor the Helldivers film has a launch window, so it could be a while earlier than we see or hear from both undertaking. Blomkamp’s final movie was Sony’s personal Gran Turismo, an adaptation of the long-running PlayStation-exclusive driving simulation sequence.
